I love and hate the MSN Desktop Search Tool. The search stuff is great; however, the ability to use this as a quazi-command-line or run box is what really wets my whistle.
As much as I like it, the fact that it doesn't run completely like the run command is painful!
I was recently whining about this in the hive and gave this example:
For example, this will open a command box(dos-prompt)
=cmd
However, this will not open the display properties...
="rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL desk.cpl,,0"
Here is my suggestion...
Anything after the equal sign should be parsed exactly like the RUN textbox would parse it. Basically, this would move the run box to the desktop.. which would bring the command-line back to the desktop. As most experienced users can type something faster than they can use the mouse to navigate to it... this would make the desktop more efficent for the advanced user.
