Code.Blog Code Talk for the Game Developer

I was rooting for you Sony, I really was.  High five for having a better show than Nintendo, two smacks for Microsoft having a better show.  Here's the recap:

Apparently the theme this year at Sony was Resistance and MMO's.  Resistance 2 was shown as well as a new PSP game, Resistance Restribution.  On the note of the PSP, it has a new pack for $200 with a Ratchet game, a PSP, a movie, 1 gig memory stick, and Echochrome voucher (not bad for $200).

I guess the cool thing to do is provide movies through the online game stores now for lazy bastard gamers movie watchers.  Seriously, to all companies considering this, focus on your games and systems before all this movie junk, no one wants it.  Again we were teased with LBP and Home, sigh...

We were shown some DC Universe Online and MAG, both MMO type games (MAG just supports a load of people).  Also, shown a bit of some other games such as God of War 3 (I totally predicted that), Infamous, Motorstorm 2, Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty, etc...

In all honesty, looking at it Sony very closely tied the Microsoft conference considering the number of games and enhancements they've planned and showed.  Microsoft though has the hype behind the big games it showed off whereas Sony seemed to show a lot of generic titles that didn't have people saying 'YES!' or 'NO!', more of a resounding 'Hmmmm, meh'.

I'm simply disappointed Sony had such a perfect opportunity to knock it out of the park and really show off compared to the others and they weren't able to.  Thankfully they weren't anywhere near the horrible Nintendo conference.

My Conference Rankings:

  1. Microsoft
  2. Sony (Close 2nd)
  3. Nintendo
