Database Columns With Spaces
Why do you always forget the little things? I try to account for what users may do when using an application and add in checks and validation where I can. But something I don’t have to do a whole lot is to upload a user created Access database to our SQL Server. In my case it was a smaller Access database with just one table that I could use as some initial data for a new app. I already had a DSN setup and the Upsizing Wizard in Access actually worked pretty good to get the table structure and data ......

FiOS Rocks
I had posted before about Comcast's internet access acting up; see Why Are You So Slow Comcast?. I made the switch last week to Verizon's FiOS service. I must say that the internet access is a bit quicker even though the rated speeds are the same; I have the 5Mbps download. I am not comparing the upload speeds since they are much different between the two providers. Even my wife noticed the web pages loading faster and email coming down quicker. So far so good. Two added bonuses as well. The picture ......

Javascipt Window From Code Behind
Something that stumped me a few years ago was trying to code a Javascript window (i.e. alert, confirm) from the code behind. I’ve listed some code below on how I did it in VS2005 using VB. For VS2003 the idea is the same but use Page in place of ClientScript and remove the GetType(String) parameter. One thing you do lose when doing it this way is any execution control that goes along with let’s say a confirm window.
