Several Outlook 2003 users with mailboxes on an Exchange 2003 Server reported one or both of the following error messages when they tried to open one or more Exchange 2010 user Calendars.

Unable to display the folder.  The information store could not be opened.

The connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable.  Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.

To fix the problem, you will need to install an Exchange 2003 hotfix on the Exchange 2003 Mailbox Servers.  For more information, please refer to Microsoft KB Article 979690.

If your Outlook 2003 users continue to have an issue (most likely The connection to the Microsoft … error message) accessing an Exchange 2010 Calendar after you’ve successfully installed the Exchange 2003 hotfix, you will need to make sure your user’s Outlook 2003 profiles are configured to encrypt data.  For more information about RPC Encryption Required, click here.

I'm having almost this exact issue.
Users on outlook 2003 are getting these errors but we only have one exchange 2010 server (we recently migrated).
All users have the encryption box ticked in outlook btw.

Is this something I can fix on my server?
