I am happy to report that Rocket Division Software has fixed the problem with the Starportlite.sys driver file that broke my XP reinstall and led me down a long and troublesome path of trying to repair my XP installation.  I originally posted about this problem here:

Here is the reply from an authorized agent of Rocket Division Software:

Indeed. We would like to confirm that there was a problem with the installation and deinstallation of the 'starportlite.sys' driver. The issue has now been fixed and you can download the updated version of the product that has the fix included at:

http://www.rocketdivision.com/downloads/StarBurnSetup.exe

It's always nice to see a software company actually follow-up on blogs and forums with solutions to problems.  Kudos to Rocket Software.

Looks like it's safe to try StarBurn again.  If nothing else, I got very familiar with all of the technical support forums that exist out there in the WWW ether.
