First official blog, second attempt pressing spell check already removed all the text once. The first VI 3 patch has been released now with official support for 64bit guests. You can install them without the patch but don't expect any help. More importantly you have Intel woodcrest support, ready to knock AMD off the top spot for "best vmware CPU". I have heard though that Intel already have their woodcrest killer in the pipeline. You can get the patch here http://www.vmware.com/download/vi/index.html

...just noticed that when I did a download of the VI 3.01 ISO image on Thursday it gave me esx-3.0.0-23447.iso. But today 11/10/06 I have what is probably the correct esx-3.0.1-32039.iso - The upgrade tar stayed the same.

Also included is dual CPU support for the XP guest. I always wondered why this was not in previous releases. I expect they have included it now because vmware are pushing their Virtual Desktop Infrastructure so hard. See http://www.vmware.com/solutions/desktop/vdi.html

I am looking forward to testing the increased ISCSI support for those of us who can't afford a SAN
