Things have changed a little in VI3 but vmware have released a document on how to do it. It seems you have to zero out the disks before sharing them. First official blog, second attempt pressing spell check already removed all the text once. The first VI 3 patch has been released now with official support for 64bit guests. You can install them without the patch but don't expect any help. More importantly you have Intel woodcrest support, ready to knock AMD off the top spot for "best vmware CPU".
